Optical Illusions Part 3

Wow- it has been some time since I have posted some optical illusions!!! These ones are pretty sweet too:) I got them from Hannah Gardner. Check 'em out!

This is not a test - just a phenomenon. All readings are explained.
Read out loud the text inside the triangle to the right.

More than likely you said, 'A bird in the bush,'! And. .
If this IS what YOU said, then you failed to see
That the word THE is repeated twice!
Sorry, look again.

Next, let's play with some words.
What do you see?

In black you can read the word GOOD, in white the word EVIL

Now what do you see?

You may not see it at first, but the white spaces read the word optical, the blue landscape reads the word illusion. Look again! Can you see why this painting is called an optical illusion?

What do you see here?

This one is quite tricky!
The word TEACH reflects as LEARN.

Last one.
What do you see?

You probably read the word ME in brown, but.......
When you look through ME you will see YOU!

Next:
EYE TEST
Count every ' F ' in the following text:
FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...

HOW MANY ?
WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke.
READ IT AGAIN !
Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.
The brain cannot process 'OF'.
Incredible or what? Go back and look again!!
Anyone who counts all 6 'F's' on the first go is a genius.
Three is normal, four is quite rare.

O lny srmat poelpe can raed this.
I cdnuolt blveiee that I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd what I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in what oredr the ltteers in a word are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is that the first and last ltteer be in the rgh it pclae. Veteran's Day

Yesterday was Veterans Day. Most of you had school off because of it. I hope you got a chance to thank a Veteran that day, for giving us the freedom we have. Freedom isn't free and in this politically charged atmosphere too often people seem down on the USA. I don't even mean people in other countries, I'm talking about Americans- where did our national pride go? Hopefully on this day that we remember those who served and fought we can remember that this nation is great because of our many freedoms. The freedoms that allow us to criticize, allow us to worship our God, allow us to live in peace.

My aunt sent me this cool audio clip and I found the youtube video to match. A man tells the story of where the National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, comes from.
Enjoy.
Side note- at the end of the video is a push for some guy running for president. Now I am not endorsing him, I don't even know who he is so don't get all in a huff if you don't like him or his party (voting is important and I will vote but I'm not voting now so I don't know who any of the people are really). The rest of the video is about history- which is vital knowledge, a lot of complaints and problems in this country- if people would only look at history I think they would be more patient. Anyway- sorry about the last part, I don't know how to take it out so you'll just have to deal with it.

Game On!

I was just checking my blog and I realized that it has been a long time since I posted a game!!! You all must have absolutely nothing else to do online since there aren't any new games on my blog! So I decided to add one today. Truthfully it is taking awhile for me to decide which one. You know I play them all first because you never know what might show up on the most innocent seeming games- so I have to play a lot of games- to make sure they are alright- hey, it's still work! It's "research" for my blog:)

Having several to choose from I finally decided on "Escape:The Phonebooth." It is pretty sweet- done by the same people who did "Escape:The Car." So if you like escape games- one of my favorites, you'll enjoy this! Click on everything and figure out how to use what you find to escape the phonebooth!!! Let me know what you think and if you need any helpful hints (I think there are in-game hints as well)

Happy Halloween

I love dressing up for Halloween- it is so fun to get to pretend:) I haven't totally decided what I am going to be tonight- last year we had Tournament Series on Halloween and I dressed up as Belle from Beauty and the beast- that was cool. Right now at work I am dressed up like a Marine, but I might change for tonight- who knows. Well I wanted to leave you with this sweet story- enjoy!

Christians are like Pumpkins

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes youin, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches youdeep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff-- including the seeds ofdoubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and putsHis light inside you to shine for all the world to see. This was passed on to me from another pumpkin. Now, it is your turn to pass it to a pumpkin. I liked this enough to pass it along to all the pumpkins in my patch.

Sharks!

So I got to go to Maui with my hubby 2 weeks ago. We had the most incredible time! It was a business type trip so we were witha large group of people all in the same business (heating and air conditioning). Anyway, while we were there a good chunk of the beach- at least the stretch from Lahina to Napili (which included where we were staying in Ka'anapaali) was closed because of sharks! And we saw them- in fact I have a video. . . (and yes I took the above picture)

Travis Time:)

I know you have all been waiting for the next installment of Silly Pictures of Travis!!!! Now is that time!!! So here is our fearless leader cooking for Beach TNL:)

My Hair, again

Lisa cut my hair again. It's been about a month now but I just kept forgetting to mention it. I LOVE it! It looks so cute! She cut a ton off- but it is still long, I just have some shorter layers. For those of you who were a part of my hair survey forever ago (click on the label and you'll see the rest) this style reminds me more of the Sandra Bullock (in Miss Congeniality) look- which no one really liked at the time of the voting. For some reason the majority went with Paula's hairdo- I just didn't want bangs, so I went with the second highest votes which was Kate Beckinsale's hair (like in Click). So I thought I'd showcase off my new do. I wore a ponytail today but you can get the idea:)

Sad time (yet rejoice)

Hi all. My Grandma died last weekend. Tomorrow is her funeral. It has been some sad times. My Grandma had a disease that over the last 6 years deteriorated her brain and made her lose control of her body. This picture is from my 21st birthday party- that was when she found out she had the disease. I like this picture because it reminds me of what she used to look like growing up.

She hasn't been able to communicate well in the last years with the last year being no communication at all. When she could still talk she was told that life must just suck (she couldn't eat, go to the bathroom, or really move at all by herself) and she said she still finds joy in life. It was just an amazing testament to her life. She was a steadfast Christian and she had more inner strength then I ever thought growing up. She was always kinda stuck in a Leave it to Beaver type era, wore butterfly clips in her hair, lots of polyester, and put her makeup on every morning and had her hair set. When her husband, my grandpa, died a little over 10 years ago, I thought she would be completely lost without him. But she was very strong and we saw her even more then before. When she came down with this disease, she accepted it very easily- I'm sure she must of struggled as she began to lose control of her body, but she always trusted God. Her life was a great testimony. I went to church the day after she died and this song really made me think of her and how she lived her life. She used to sing in the choir too and had a beautiful voice. It is sad but also a time to rejoice because I know she is happy and her body is healed and new.

Take My Life
Frances Havergal
Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to Thee
Take my moments and my days
Let them flow in
ceaseless praise

Take my hands
and let them move
at the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for Thee

Take my voice and let me sing
always only for my King
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from Thee

Take my silver and my gold
not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect and use
every power as You choose

Here am I
all of me
Take my life
it’s all for Thee

Take my will and make it Thine
it shall be no longer mine
Take my heart it is Thine own
it shall be Thy royal throne

Take my love my Lord I pour
at Your feet its treasure store
Take myself and I will be
ever only all for Thee

Here am I
all of me
Take my life
it’s all for Thee

Take my will and make it Thine
it shall be no longer mine
Take my heart it is Thine own
it shall be Thy royal throne

Take my love my Lord I pour
at Your feet its treasure store
Take myself and I will be
ever only all for Thee

Can you think?

Obviously the answer is yes. Maybe the question should be- do you notice the ordinary? You will still have to think about the answers to this test but check it out- you might be suprised. I only got 17 out of 25. How did you do?

Uuuugggghhh!

- too much cake!

Ok- I feel kinda nasty. We celebrated June birthdays at work today and so there was cake and pie and all kinds of goodies. I decided to have a piece of lemon cake with raspberry filling and white chocolate icing. Mmmm mmmm good. Well it was some seriously dense cake and very rich. I couldn't even finish my slice that was the smallest one set out! But now I feel blah. Too much cake. No muy bueno.

But since we are talking about cake, I decided to re-link cake mania for those of you who didn't get a chance to play. It is so fun. So if you have played this already either enjoy it again or just smile over your fond memories of playing this incredible game. Click here to play cake mania. I'm not going to play right now. The thought of even looking at a cake, real or not, is making me nauseous.

Bongos!

Drumming is fun- I'm not any good at it but I can appreciate talent when I hear it:) So I found this game called Bonobo's Bongos. 2 chimps are hanging in the forest- the one on the left playes a rhythm and then you control the monkey on the right to copy the first monkey. Get it? You can either point and click on the bongo to play them or use the arrow keys, I prefer the arrow key method. They start out with some pretty easy rhythms but get complicated fast. Enjoy!

PS- a pop up will appear when you first click- just x out of it.

Amazing!

Ok- so I love to dance. All kinds pretty much. I did ballet for years and I love swing. I only know a little salsa- but I like it. Lately I've been watching Dancing with the Stars- ooohh so good! I love watching people dance- especially that stuff because there are so many rules and guidelines to follow those styles, its cool. An even better dancing show- I hope it comes back is So You Think You Can Dance. That one they take all kinds of professional dancers in their field and see who is the best all around dancer. So everyone is phenomenal!

Well Cat sent me this amzing video the other day of this couple Salsa dancing. What is so amazing about it is that they are really good and the guy only has 1 leg! Check it out!

Mother's day

Mother's day is almost here so make sure you do something nice for your mom. This is a picture of me and my mom from my wedding. My mom is great so I wanted to get her something for Mother's day to show how much I appreciate her. So I did this weekend when I was on vacation:) I remember one Mother's day, I didn't have any money or my dad couldn't take me out or something (too young to drive) so I didn't have a present for her and I felt really bad. So I went out in the yard and picked some of those really long stems that come out of grass if it hasn't been mowed in awhile- you know what I mean? Anyway, I took those and lome petals from a hibiscus flower and made a bracelet and necklace with them. They were lame and cheesey and I felt really bad that that was all I had to give her but my mom made me feel like they were really special and wore them that day and then hung the necklace off of this big decorative hat that hung over her bed for what felt like years. It dried like flowers do and she still kept it- I have a great mom. Anyway here are some pictures of some other moms. Let me know what you think of these pics or tell me about your mom in the comments!

think about it

So I love think it out type games. I love solving the crime or having mental challenges, figuring out the secret- stuff you really have to think and investigate and connect the facts together. Who dunnit type stuff, I love it! That is probably why my favorite show is CSI (the original). Puzzles just interest me. But not the jigsaw kind and I'm not really big into Sudoku. I like to have questions that need answers. I also enjoy cryptograms. You are probably thinking, what is a cryptogram- well I'll tell you. It is a message in which all the letters have been substituted for other letters. For example, "I am the walrus" in cryptogram form might look like this "T js kew pjvgho" where each letter represents a different letter. They are fun to figure out and the letters are different each time, T doesn't always = I, it just depends on whatever the person who wrote it decides to substitute. Make sense? You could set up your own cryptogram with your friends and no one would be able to read what you wrote, unless they had your cipher (your letter chart that explains the subsitutions)or they like to solve cryptograms and knew some of the tricks for figuring them out.

Anyway- I just did this you solve it type game yesterday and it was really fun. My time was 14:22 as in it took me 14 minutes and 22 seconds to solve. It is called Escape the Car. Basically you are stuck in a car and you have to look at everything, find stuff and then use your items collected and your wits to escape the car. See if you can figure it out! Click here to play Let me know what you think about the game and how you did!

The Five Finger Prayer

I got this cool email from a friend. Over the next week you should give this 5 Finger Prayer a try! Who knows, maybe you will develop a great prayer habit:)

The Five Finger Prayer
1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."

2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger - the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively

Relaxing fun

This game is so soothing! Ok, I know I have put up a lot of games lately but if you played poke the bunny you realize that it isn't really a game but a joke. Therefore it doesn't count:) This game though, is pretty cool. I like it because the music is very soothing and all the colors are neato, plus it is challenging. Ok, so here is what you do: You try to find the best spot to click on to create larger and larger chain reactions of explosions- not fire explosions but color explosions. Each round you are given a number of chain reactions you have to create and the number of dots in play. Now you only have one click so you have to time it right so you get all the reactions that you need. You should check it out, its sweet.

btw- it is called Boomshine- the only uncool thing about the game

poke the bunny

Since Easter is coming up soon I thought I would have a fun little bunny game. Check it out and see what happens when you poke the bunny:)

In honor. . .

. . of Travis and Kirk's birthdays (both on Mar.16) I have decided, in the most magnanimous (look it up) and humble spirit, to allow their faces to grace the pages of my blog. I know I know, 'tis a high and lofty honor to have your countenance appear on these hallowed pages, however, Travis a Kirk are most worthy. So Happy Birthday!

Have you ever. . .

done something really silly and got caught in your own stupidity? I mean like this picture- ok this boy got the not so bright idea to stick his head through the hole in a chair and it got stuck. Not such a big deal if you are able to get out of it on your own or if your buddy needs to help you and then you both can laugh about it later. But what I mean is that he got caught in his silly mistake- the fire dept. has to come and cut him out at school!

For me, I thought it would be cool if I could do a handstand. I was in college and helped out in JH and I thought it would be neat if I could just drop down into a handtand at TNL one night and walk around on my hands. I can't do a handstand. So I decide to practice against a wall so I can figure it out. While I am upsidedown against this wall in my parents house watching Jeopardy, I start to lose my balance and kick my legs out to gain it back. Well I kick the solid oak clock with a pendulum and chimes off the wall. Thinking, "oh great, I broke the clock," I suddenly realized that my finger hurt. I looked at my hand and screamed in pain because I completly broke my right hand ring finger in half. And the ring I was wearing was now smashed flat inbetween my 2 bone pieces.

Well it is a long and crazy story of what all happened that night but needless to say I needed surgery to put my finger back together. I had 2 pins in there- it was crazy, all for a handstand.

Do you have a story of where you did something silly and others totally found out? Tell me your story!! I can't wait to hear about it!

a new game

I found this really cool puzzle game- its called Hyperflash and what you have to do is link up squares of the same color on a 3d cube. Ok- sounds lame but I swear it is addicting!!! Give it a go. They have a speed version or a mind version. You see how quick you can solve easier puzzles or you solve increasingly difficult puzzles as you go up levels- pretty cool stuff:)

Try it and let me know what level or speed you get to! Right now I am at level 18 and my speed score is 13200. How did you do?

Prodigy

Do you know what that is? It is a young person who is capable of doing something way beyond what most adults could even do. Someone who is extremly talented and gifted beyond their years- a genius. I just saw this cool video about a girl prodigy. She is your age and is an amazing painter. She says she is inspired by God- her story is so cool you have got to watch!

Click here to watch the video and click here to go to her website and see more of her art!

The Hair is Cut!!!

Thank you all so much for participating in my forever quest of a new haircut. The deed is done. This morning our very own Lisa Horstman cut my hair in the Kate Beckinsale style. This cut got a lot of votes in the poll. The poll winner was actually Paula's haircut but Niki and my sister both voted for Kate's hair and their votes count super double. So thanks for all your help in this long decision process:) If you click on the "hair" or "student poll" labels you can see the whole process.

Here is my new do:

Blogged out

So I just updated to the new version of Blogger and now you can add tabs to all your posts so you and others can seach by genre or whatever to find different posts that are related under a category. I think I spent about an hour categorizing all my past blogs. So I don't feel very bloggy today. You know when you stare at a computer so long that your eyes dry out and get all red and stuff- that is me. No fun. That's all I got this week- a whole lotta nothing. Sorry- check back next week.

Oh great- I was looking up a picture to put with this blog and I found the one I used along with this article "Research conducted on 10,000 Japanese employees suggests a link between the length of time spent using a computer and the development of glaucoma, a relatively common eye disease that develops very slowly, characterized by progressive sight defects or visual field abnormalities over time."

Scary Santa!!!

It seems like every Christmas I go through a mall or any place where children may gather , there is always a huge line to see Santa. Ok- so I understand that kiddos want to make sure he knows what they want for Christmas, the thing that is funny to me is that not everyone is happy to see Santa. For every happy, smiley-faced child that comes to see Santa, it seems there is an unhappy one- a very vocally unhappy child. But it never fails that every year parents will bring their child to see Santa and get that perfect picture that will get sent out in the family Christmas card. Helplessly they stand by and watch their sweet little cherub of a child turn into a wailing, screaming baby at the first sight of that white beard and red suit. What is so scary about Santa? Here are some funny pics of kids who are scared of Santa (and one of me and some friends who of course had to get a picture with Santa at Disneyland- hence the crowns. Some people never grow up:)
